Guide rebranding of this organisation without loss of identity or reputation …
For almost 50 years, this nonprofit has provided support to the carers of those who live with psychosocial disability and their families. Considered the peak body for mental health carers in Queensland, it provides a range of other services and programs to mental health carers. These include a 24/7 support line, persona 1-1 support, suicide and bereavement counselling: face-to-face and online support groups, advocacy, respite/retreats, and education/capacity building programs. More is planned.
Supplementary to this, they provide NDIS services that help support carers in a caring role. These services include supported independent living, core supports, community access, short-term accommodation, (specialist) support coordination and recovery coaching.
A historically stable Board dynamic is backed by an expert executive team. There are many opportunities that need to be strategically planned for. The search is on for two experienced, visionary, functional Board Members, with strong governance and human services experience and valuable knowledge of the carer and NDIS space.
Through their skills, experience, social commitment and personal attributes, these new Directors will strengthen an already-vigorous Board dynamic that is shaping active growth, enhancing systemic advocacy and strategic direction.
Driven by an unshakeable belief in social justice and equalities of opportunity, one of these two prospective Directors will also bring highly developed business acumen, including IT, financial expertise and (hopefully) some knowledge of cybersecurity in both nonprofit and commercial business.
The other strategic Director will be a ‘legal eagle’ – not a specialist but a roundly experienced generalist with a background in general law. Ideally, they will have an appreciation of change management, risk and financial expertise, gained on Boards and/or Committees or in collaborative senior executive roles.
In a refreshingly supportive environment that encourages vigorous discussion and active problem solving, this is a Board that prides itself on seeing decisions through to conclusion. Emotional maturity, drive, determination and collaboration are necessary attributes critical to achieving bold strategic aims for the future. So, your proven ability as a visionary who can plot a future course, help smoothly effect change, support intentional and considered growth and endorse a customer-centric culture, will be well appreciated.
Lived experience of mental ill-health or psychosocial disability are not prerequisites for these directorships; but this, and/or any knowledge or experience as a carer for someone with mental health issues will be valued.
